Match time is what turns net skills into real performance, and academies that drill constantly but rarely play competitively tend to plateau their students.

If video analysis matters to you, confirm the academy actually uses it; plenty advertise it but rarely sit students down to review footage. Strength-and-conditioning support becomes critical from under-14 onward. Equipment policy varies — some academies provide bats and pads, most expect you to bring your own. Coach continuity is a quiet differentiator: academies where the same coach stays with a batch across seasons produce better technical foundations than ones with frequent rotation. A common pitfall is over-specialising too early. Kids pushed into batting or bowling tracks before age 12 often plateau when their bodies grow and their physical capabilities change. The opposite mistake is just as common — drifting between academies every few months chasing facilities, which stops any single coach from building a multi-season development plan.
